How to Ensure that Your Body Receives an Adequate Amount of Fiber

Dietary fiber, which is also referred to as bulk or roughage, relates to plant food parts that cannot be absorbed or digested by the human body. Other parts such as carbohydrates, proteins and fats can be broken down and absorbed by the body unlike fiber, which passes through the stomach, relatively intact and then goes on to the small intestine and colon and eventually is excreted out of the body.

Natural sources of fiber

One of the best ways to get the required amount of fiber into your body is through a well-balanced diet with all the right food. For instance, ensure that you eat vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts and seeds and whole grains. It is important to note that processed or refined food such as pastas, juices that are pulp-free and canned vegetables and fruits will not provide the necessary amount of fiber that you require. For example, non-whole-grain cereals are not fiber rich as the bran or the outer coat is removed from the grain during the process of grain-refining. Eating the right food in its natural form can help relieve or prevent constipation, maintain good bowel health, lower cholesterol, and control blood sugar levels.

Fiber supplements

A good way to supplement your normal diet and digestive functions is through a product such as NUTRILITE® Fiber. As Indians, you need 40g of fiber intake on a daily basis and this product makes it possible for you to get the required intake. Blending three natural soluble fibers, namely, partially hydrolysed guar gum, inulin and resistant maltodextrin, each serving contains 3.7g of soluble dietary fiber. It is a low viscosity and tasteless liquid that easily mixes with water. This is one of the reasons why it is so easy to incorporate into your regular diet as it dissolves easily in water and other flavourings can be added based on your own unique preferences. If you are someone who struggles to meet the daily dietary fiber requirement, taking a fiber supplement may be the best way to keep your bowel functioning in a healthy manner.

Recommended dosage

Using the scoop that is provided with the product, children above the age of twelve and all adults can take one scoop either once or twice a day, based on the requirement. Your fiber intake will gradually increase with time. To make the supplement, take 250 or 350 ml of juice or water and mix in 4.5 grams of the product and stir it for about thirty seconds. It is then ready to be consumed. Even children who are normally fussy to take supplements will find it easy to drink as it can be mixed with a favourite beverage and has no distinctive taste of its own.

Go ahead and try NUTRILITE® Fiber to keep your digestive system functioning the way it should. It is a quick, simple and safe way to get your dietary fiber intake along with a nutritious and balanced diet.
